Resident Satisfaction Surveys

Many New York State Nursing Homes report doing Resident Satisfaction Surveys, utilizing tools with varying number of questions at varying frequency. Some utilize outside companies. Some facilities are part of groups that require the nursing homes use a specific tool, and these results are tallied. The nursing home may compare their results with those of others within the same system. Some facilities use their own tools and tally the result themselves.

However, it is recommended that all resident satisfaction surveys address the following domains: the resident's overall assessment of their satisfaction with their life in the nursing home, resident activities, facility environment, food, clinical care, personal care, staff interaction, non-clinical staff services, privacy/autonomy, family involvement, cleanliness/housekeeping, security, and administration.
