Pressure Ulcer Collaborative 2004-2005
IPRO joined Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) and nursing homes throughout the nation in the National Nursing Home Improvement Collaborative (NNHIC). The collaborative focused on Pressure Ulcer Prevention and Management.
Participating QIOs and nursing homes throughout the country met periodically to share and discuss quality practices, barriers and successes. IPRO was privileged to have North Shore University Hospital Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation (NSUH CECR) staff join us in the collaborative as a champion New York facility.
Building on the knowledge and experience gained through the NNHIC, IPRO NHQI staff members spread the learning to a larger subset of New York State nursing homes and assisted with tracking processes of care and outcomes. Through tracking, monitoring, and implementing quality improvement practices, most of the nursing homes that were part of the Pressure Ulcer Collaborative successfully reduced the number of nosocomial pressure ulcers.
