Briody Health Care Facility in Lockport, New York is one of 100 nursing homes in the Identified Participant Group working with IPRO in the Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI).

Briody has been an active participant and supporter of the NHQI since the onset of the project. The facility's team, led by Nancy Babis, Director of Nursing, carefully examines clinical care processes and develops or revises strategies to enhance quality improvement activities and quality of care outcomes for their residents.

Briody's pressure ulcer skin team and prevention and treatment program are particularly noteworthy. The skin team consists of interdisciplinary staff members committed to assessing and guiding the care of residents at risk for developing pressure sores and receiving treatment for pressure sores.

Through weekly skin rounds, all potential pressure areas are evaluated, interventions and strategies are reviewed, and recommendations for change are communicated.
