IPRO is pleased to provide you with the Winter 2005 edition of the Cardiac Newsletter - IPRO's newsletter on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) National Cardiac Projects. This edition focuses on the new CMS acceptance of Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARBs) for both Chronic Heart Failure (CHF) and Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor (ACEI) indicators. It also discusses the growing evidence that depression may have a clinically significant interaction with heart failure. In addition, this issue highlights a recent study that suggests that the benefit of smoking cessation for post-AMI patients appears to begin earlier than previously thought.
For your convenience, we are enclosing a fax-back order form that can be used to request additional copies of the newsletter. We are grateful for the positive feedback that we received from our previous issues and we continue to solicit your comments and suggestions. Should you have any questions or comments, you may call Marguerite Shaffer at (516) 326-7767, ext. 634, e-mail: mshaffer@nyqio.sdps.org. Cardiac Newsletter is also available on our website, www.ipro.org.
