As part of IPRO's role in supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) Outcome-Based Quality Improvement (OBQI) Initiative, IPRO will be conducting regional educational conferences in March for the home health provider community. These conferences will include presentations by expert speakers addressing the topic areas of cognitive impairment, depression and pain management.

Patrick Raue, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Medical College of Cornell University will present during the morning session addressing assessment of depressive symptoms and cognitive impairment in home care clients. Jill Loeb, RN, BSN, MSNc, Pain Management Specialist at Brandywine Nursing Home will present during the afternoon session addressing assessment and management of pain in the home care setting. This presentation will specifically address pain management and its relation to the subsequent improvement of activities of daily living and quality of life for home care clients. These presentations will include lectures, interactive sharing and discussion, case study review and practical applications for clinical care management.

IPRO would like to invite representatives from the direct clinical care and therapy service staff within your organization to attend this conference. A copy of the agenda for the conference is enclosed as well as a list of the meeting dates and locations. There is a fee of $25.00 per person to attend the conference to help defray the cost of food and beverages. We accept cash, credit cards and checks as forms of payment.

To register please go to http://providers.ipro.org, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Events. Select the conference date and location you wish to attend and complete the registration information for each person who will be attending the conference. Directions to the conference site locations are available on the IPRO registration website. IPRO has applied for Nursing continuing education credit through the New York State Nurses Association and CE credit for Certified Professionals in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) through the Healthcare Quality Certification Board. Conference attendees must be present for the entire conference to qualify to receive continuing education credits.

If you have questions or wish additional information please contact Sara Butterfield at 1-800-233-0360 ext 104.
