A few weeks ago, IPRO disseminated Administrative Memorandum #2004-02: QualityNet HPMP Data Distribution. This memorandum discussed the Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Report (PEPPER) data dissemination and provided instructions for data retrieval. The PEPPER administrative claims data focuses on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) target areas and provides hospital-specific trended data for each target area. These data were recently disseminated by IPRO through QualityNet Exchange and continue to remain available for hospitals that have not yet downloaded their data.

In follow-up to this data dissemination, IPRO is pleased to offer QualityNet web-training to facilitate and complement the use of these data. Hospital participants will need access to both the Internet and a phone line for participation in this training. The training will be offered on February 25 at 11:00 a.m. and February 26 at 1:00 p.m. It is recommended that hospitals participate in one of the training events to maximize the use of their data. It is not necessary to participate in both sessions as the same material will be covered. The training will provide instructions on how to best navigate within the tool, how to identify outlier topic areas, suggestions for hospital efforts for outlier areas, and more, including an opportunity for questions and answers.

Please download Detailed registration instructions for this training. Hospitals must register to participate in this training. Registration is available at https://ifmcevents.webex.com. We request your assistance in keeping slots open for all hospitals wishing to participate by encouraging staff within your facility to share the computer/phone line used for the training event. In addition, IPRO will make an on-line recording of the training available at http://www.ipro.org/hpmp. A recording of the training will also be available at the QualityNet web event center, details of which will be provided upon conclusion of the training.

It is strongly recommended that hospitals access their PEPPER data and review both the PEPPER Users Guide and the data prior to training. The PEPPER Users Guide was provided with the data dissemination and may also be downloaded at www.ipro.org/hpmp under downloads.

Should you have any questions or comments about this memorandum and/or the training please contact Dr. Kathy Terry, Sr. Director, Medicare Federal Health Care Assessment at 516-326-7767, extension 364.
