In support of the Nursing Home Quality Initiative and quality improvement activities, IPRO, the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for New York State, will be sponsoring four statewide educational conferences.

The purpose of the conferences is to provide nursing homes with the knowledge and skills to develop and implement quality improvement projects on the pain, pressure ulcers and restraints quality measures.

The target audience includes all staff interested in and/or directly involved with quality improvement throughout the long-term care industry.

The NHQI - QI Educational conferences will be held at upstate and downstate locations as follows:

Workshops Deadlines for registration
March 25, 2003 - Westchester Marriott, Tarrytown, NY - 8:00 AM March 18, 2003
March 31, 2003 - Desmond Hotel, Albany, NY - 8:00 AM March 24, 2003
April 15, 2003 - Melville Marriott, Melville, NY - 8:00 AM April 8, 2003
April 28, 2003 - RIT Inn and Conference Center, Rochester NY - 8:00 AM April 21, 2003

In addition to morning educational sessions by expert speakers, the conferences will include afternoon breakout sessions that focus on learning practical issues regarding implementing quality improvement programs in each of the clinical areas. Attendees will have the option of choosing 2 out of 3 breakout sessions. However, due to limited seating, pre-registration is required (see fax back form for details).

There is a fee of $25 per person to attend the conference to cover the cost of food and refreshments. We accept credit cards, checks and purchase orders as forms of payment.

We would like to accommodate as many facilities as possible. However, due to space constraints, we suggest no more than two (2) representatives from each facility should attend (walk-ins are discouraged).

You can register for the conference by visiting our website at www.ipro.org, by submitting the attached fax back form to (516) 326-7462, attn. Marina Durmaz, or by mailing the fax back form to the address listed on the attached form.

CME and CEU credits have been applied for Physicians, Licensed Nursing Home Administrators and Licensed Professional Nurses.

We look forward to your participation in the educational conferences. Should you have any questions regarding the conferences or this memorandum, please feel free to contact Pauline Kinney at (516) 326-7767 ext. 402.
