Pulitzer-Prize winning author and journalist Laurie Garrett is the Keynote Speaker at IPRO's 18th Annual Membership Meeting, June 4, 2002 at the LaGuardia Marriott Hotel in East Elmhurst, NY. The author of The Coming Plague:Newly Emerging Diseases in a World Out of Balance, Ms. Garrett is the only writer to have won all three of the major journalism awards, The Peabody, The Polk (twice) and The Pulitzer. She is a medical and science writer at Newsday and has written for numerous other publications including Foreign Affairs, Esquire and Vanity Fair. The title of Ms. Garrett's presentation is the title of her recent book, Betrayal of Trust:The Collapse of Global Public Health.

In addition to Ms. Garrett's presentation, IPRO's Annual Membership Meeting includes Awards for Outstanding Service to the Health Care Community. The event will be held from 12:00noon to 2:30pm and includes a complimentary buffet luncheon.
