Enclosed please find copies of IPRO's Payment Error Prevention Program report entitled "Aggregate and Hospital-Specific Project Reports for New York State Data Trending". These reports are based upon IPRO's analysis of a random sample of New York State (NYS) Medicare Prospective Payment System (PPS) inpatient claims. The purpose of the NYS Data Trending project is to determine and track the aggregate payment error rate across all acute care PPS hospitals in New York State. Errors may be due to DRG/coding errors, unnecessary admissions, or technical denials for failure to provide the medical record. Identifying and correcting these errors will help reduce NYS Medicare inpatient PPS payment errors.
