IPRO is pleased to provide you with the Summer 2004 edition of the Cardiac Newsletter - IPRO's newsletter on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) National Cardiac Projects. This edition focuses on hyperlipidimia in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients and the importance of effective discharge planning for chronic heart failure (CHF) patients. In addition, the newsletter highlights the under-prescription of beta-blockers in elderly patients with functional impairments, the impact of smoking cessation counseling, and the potential benefits of combining therapies for cardiac patients.
