SUBJECT: New IPRO Collaboratives
IPRO CONTACTS:
Linda Azzato, RN, BSHA, Performance Improvement Coordinator - Downstate, x294
Marguerite Shaffer, RN, CPHQ, Sr. Director of Improvement Strategies, x410
Linda Shiels, RN, BSN, Performance Improvement Coordinator, x324
Karen Stockholm, RN, BSN, Performance Improvement Coordinator - Upstate, 1-800-233-0360, x105
Over the past two years, IPRO has facilitated three successful rapid-cycle improvement Collaboratives in the areas of Pneumonia, Surgical Infection Prevention, and Smoking Cessation. The response to these Collaboratives has been extremely positive. During the next year, IPRO intends to offer additional modified statewide Collaboratives focusing on Pneumonia, Surgical Infection Prevention and Cardiac Care.
These new Collaboratives will appeal to hospitals in all stages of their quality improvement efforts. For hospitals that have participated in a Collaborative these will help them sustain their efforts or make further improvements. For others in the developmental stages of their efforts, these Collaboratives will give them the opportunity to experience shared learning.
For these new Collaboratives, IPRO will host monthly conference calls highlighting program development models, clinical updates and intervention strategies. IPRO will provide assistance in effectively utilizing indicator results, and create a web-based information exchange tool. Collaborators can engage in various levels of participation, from basic learning to advanced applications. Basic participation would involve having a dedicated hospital employee to participate in conference calls. More active participation would include development of teams, implementing and monitoring improvement strategies and sharing findings.
We look forward to your participation and an IPRO staff member will be contacting you within the next few weeks to discuss this further. Should you have any questions regarding this memorandum, please contact either Linda Sheils at 516-326-7767, ext. 324, or Karen Stockholm at 1-800-233-0360, ext. 105.
