IPRO is pleased to announce its redesigned corporate website, offering substantially more information for health professionals and consumers, in a more accessible format. Included in easy-to-use navigation are IPRO Quality Improvement Studies, Administrative Memos, news bulletins, workbooks for professionals, consumer pamphlets and links to other healthcare websites of value. The site is located where it has always been -- at www.ipro.org -- we urge you to bookmark it if you haven't already.

We are especially pleased to announce that the full text of our newly-published "toolbox" on Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) is now available on the site. Distributed in hard-copy format to all New York acute care hospitals a few weeks ago, the toolbox entitled A Guide to an Effective Program for Optimizing Care for Pneumonia is now available for download in a PDF file format. The toolbox includes a project overview, professional educational materials, patient materials, data collection tools, quality improvement tools, community outreach materials and a bibliography. As you know, CAP is one of the clinical topics that IPRO and all Quality Improvement Organizations nationwide must focus on in current Medicare workplans. Please download and circulate copies of the toolbox to your colleagues.

I would also like to draw your attention to the "Find Medicare Plans" and "Find Nursing Homes" databases, produced by the U.S. Health Care Financing Administration, which are also now available through our site. By clicking on the icons on our homepage and then entering zip codes, consumers and professionals have access to a wealth of quality-of-care and cost information on Medicare-participating HMOs and nursing homes nationwide and in New York. I urge you to review this information and pass the word to colleagues, seniors and their families.
