We are pleased to provide you with the Spring 2003 edition of Pneumonia News, IPRO's newsletter on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) National Pneumonia Project. This edition contains preliminary baseline rates for New York State and nationwide for the 7th Scope of work pneumonia project and summarizes a recently enacted federal rule change that facilitates immunization standing order programs in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. The newsletter also highlights one hospital's success in identifying problems and improving the management of their community-acquired pneumonia patients.
