SUBJECT: Leadership in Quality Improvement Teleconference
IPRO CONTACTS:

Pauline Kinney, R.N., M.A., L.N.H.A, Director - NHQI, ext. 402

Among nursing homes that have been renowned for successful management and quality care, one attribute is constant - strong day-to-day leadership. In these nursing homes the Administrators, Directors of Nursing and additional management personnel work together to empower staff to solve problems, assume leadership roles and support employee driven efforts to improve quality.

As part of IPRO's role in supporting the implementation of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI), IPRO is hosting a conference call for interested nursing home management staff entitled "The Role of Leadership in Quality Improvement". The purpose of the conference call is to provide a basic knowledge of the role of nursing home leadership in quality improvement and to demonstrate the link between effective leadership and successful QI implementation and outcomes.

IPRO would like to invite you and your management staff to participate in the one-hour teleconference on leadership and quality improvement hosted by Mary Hibberd M.D., M.P.H., on Tuesday, February 25, 2003 from 2:00PM-3:00PM. Dr. Hibberd is a proven medical leader who was previously the Commissioner of Health for Suffolk County, and most recently, the Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs for IPRO.

If you are interested in participating in the conference call, please forward the fax back form to (516) 326-7462.

We look forward to your participation. Should you have any questions regarding this memorandum or the upcoming teleconference please feel free to contact Pauline Kinney at (516) 326-7767, extension 402, or Dr. Patricia Gagliano, at extension 547.
